What is West Hartford Community Television?

West Hartford Community Television (WHC-TV) is a non-profit, public, education and government access station which telecasts on Channel 5 on the Comcast cable system in West Hartford and is available on AT&T U-verse through their Channel 99 menu application. WHC-TV provides an open forum for free speech, community dialogue, cultural exchange and artistic expression. We encourage community conversations and inspire engaged grass roots community involvement by making media tools and training available to residents. We are the only channels that are both hyper-local and participatory - by and for the people of West Hartford.

West Hartford Community Television provides West Hartford residents with:

the opportunity to express your views on television
a channel that keeps you informed about your community
television training and career exploration
live coverage of school and government meetings and elections
televised electronic calendar of local events
emergency information and school closings
home of the "be the media" local news and journalism project

Board of Directors

The station’s policy is developed by the Board of Directors comprised of a maximum of 30 community representatives who have been asked to donate their time and expertise for three-year terms of service. The 2012-2013 Officers are as follows:
