TECHNOLOGY OUTREACH COORDINATOR
Full-time | Salaried position
Description
As
part of the video production team, the Technology Outreach Coordinator
facilitates volunteer productions with special focus on field productions
and
new media initiatives. The Coordinator is responsible for organizing
or assisting
in the development of programs, workshops, and media experiences
for citizens of West Hartford.
Desired Skills:
•
Bachelor’s Degree or certificate in video production or equivalent
professional experience
• Proficient operating cameras and other video production equipment.
• Experience digitizing and encoding video.
• Experience teaching television production and new media skills.
• Experience with nonlinear editing, special effects programs. Final Cut
Pro or VT4 preferred.
• Experience in developing online social networks and interactive web models.
• Demonstrated understanding of the elements of the visual language.
• Able to network computers and use codecs to move files from NTSC to web
supported formats and troubleshoot compatibility issues.
• Possess a passion to empower and educate people to use technology in
new ways
• Able to provide the tools and support for producers and so they can effectively
communicate and participate as members of the vibrant WHC-TV
community.
• Able to celebrate artistic freedom and nurture the creativity that new
and continuing volunteer community members and staff bring
to community media projects.
• Support individuals in developing self-confidence and a public voice
through community media.
• Able to systematically take projects from assignment to completion
• Able to work in a deadline-oriented environment and manage multiple,
simultaneous projects
• Outstanding oral, written and interpersonal communication and organization
skills
• Able to work as a team in a challenging creative and technical environment
• Able to excel under minimal supervision
• Ability to handle multiple situations and tasks simultaneously
• Possess creative problem-solving skills
Responsibilities
The
Technology Outreach Coordinator with all aspects of video production
and workshop development/implementation to facilitate three vibrant
public access channels for the Town of West Hartford:
• Trains volunteers in all phases of field productions including taping
on location and editing to development of off -site productions
• Develops and presents up-to-date technology and training models that
engage individuals and groups in their community
• Assists with development of new technology initiatives
• Makes equipment recommendations for the EFP Packages.
• Assists in designing the architecture to ensure efficient digital work
flow.
• Designs and oversees internships for on location and new media projects.
• Assists in planning, creation and execution of workshops on television
production and new media.
• Works as a team member to videotape special projects, interviews and
election coverage
• Assists with development and outreach plan
• Works with volunteer producers to ensure compliance with all laws and
good practices related to safety for our employees, students and guests
working and visiting the studio
• Supports other team members by directing studio shows, assisting with
special projects and show development as needed.
• Reports technical problems to the Executive Director and assists in finding
remedies
• Must be available to work evenings and weekends as needed.
• Works with volunteers and interns in assuring clean and maintained digital
labs.
• Required to cover for other staff members during vacation.
• Providing extraordinary community service based on the needs, interests
and gifts within the diverse neighborhoods we serve
• Directs WHC-TV studio programs and special projects as needed
• Other duties as assigned
