Town-Wide Street Sweeping

The West Hartford town-wide street sweeping program is scheduled to begin on Monday, March 15th, weather permitting.  Two Public Works sweeping crews will begin by making one sweep on all high traffic streets and then move into residential streets.  This year the program will begin in the south end of town and proceed north once the high traffic streets are completed.  The 10-week program is normally completed by the Memorial Day weekend.   Residents can rake the sand from their roadside areas into the gutter, but they are asked to please spread the sand out instead of leaving it in piles.  Please keep all other materials out of the gutter, especially yard waste which will be collected during the annual yard waste collection program scheduled to begin on Monday, May 3rd.   DPW crews have completed a pass of the Town to collect broken curbing, but residents should call public works at (860) 561-8100 to report broken curbing and it will be collected by DPW crews.
